Configuring Loyalty Policy
Our loyalty policy allows customers to earn points on every purchase, which can then be redeemed for discounts at checkout. Merchants can configure the loyalty system to suit their business needs, including setting redemption thresholds and determining the value of points. Below are key features and configuration options for the loyalty policy.
Earning and Redeeming Loyalty Points
Earning Points:
- By default, customers earn 1 point for every $1 spent. This rate can't be adjusted manually but merchants can set up the loyalty policy to determine how many points are required in order to redeem $1 rewards.
- Loyalty points accumulate automatically with each purchase.
Viewing and Using Points:
- Customers can view their point balance by logging into their account and navigating to Profile.
- To redeem points, customers must be logged in during checkout, where they can choose how many points to apply to their order.
- Any unused points will remain in the customer's account for future use until it expires.
Redemption Options:
- Customers can redeem points in conjunction with promo codes for extra savings at checkout.
Managing Loyalty Points as a Merchant
Adjusting Points and Credits:
- Merchants can manually add or remove loyalty points or account credits from a customer’s profile. See How to update Account Credit and Loyalty Points?
- Specific adjustment reasons can be set up for transparency and consistency. These reasons help clarify the cause of any point or credit changes. See Configuring Adjustment Reasons for Account Credit
Transparency and Documentation:
- By creating standardized adjustment reasons, merchants can reduce disputes and ensure consistency in point management.
- Keeping customers informed about point adjustments helps improve satisfaction and trust.
Configuring Loyalty Policy Settings
Loyalty settings can be customized within Admin > Settings > Marketing > Loyalty Policy. Below are some of the key configurations:
-
Redemption Point Value: Set the dollar value of each loyalty point.
- Example 1: $1 = 10 points means that customers will need to spend $100 to earn 100 points which is then convertible to $10 rewards.
- Example 2: $1 = 50 points means that customers will need to spend $500 to earn 500 points which is then convertible to $10 rewards.
- Minimum Redemption per Order: Define the minimum points a customer must redeem in an order.
- Maximum Redemption per Order: Cap the number of points a customer can redeem in a single transaction.
- Redeeming Starts From: Specify the minimum purchase or point balance required before customers can begin redeeming points.
- Points Earned Rounding: Configure how points are rounded (up or down) after calculating based on purchase value.
- Active Subscription Discount Type: Customize how loyalty discounts apply to customers with active subscriptions.
- Active Subscription Terminology: Set the language and labels for subscriptions within the loyalty program.
- Active Subscription Discount Amount: Determine the discount percentage or dollar amount for subscriptions. No need to change this if no additional discounts should be applied
- Show Active Subscription Discount in Checkout: Choose whether to display subscription discounts at checkout.
- Corporate Accounts: Allow corporate accounts to accrue and redeem loyalty points.
- Point Expiration: Define how long points remain valid after the last order.
- Show Loyalty in Dropdown Menu: Decide if loyalty points will be visible in the main navigation or dropdown menus. If this is not enabled, loyalty points that customers have are not visible on the Menu dropdown, but they can still see it when they go to their Account > Profile.
- Time since last order that loyalty points should expire: Define how long loyalty points are valid after a customer's most recent order. Setting it to a low value means that their earned points will expire if they haven't order in X amount of days.
- Points Multiplier: Set different point-earning rates for one-time purchases vs. subscription orders. Give incentive to subscription orders and promote it, you can utilize the Points Multiplier to highlight subscription orders.
Important Notes
While there is no option to fully disable the loyalty policy, merchants can modify settings to limit point redemption. For example:
- Set a high minimum redemption value.
- Implement a short point expiration period.
This allows flexibility while maintaining the system’s functionality.
