Expiring Payment Methods Report

Stay ahead of failed payments and reduce involuntary churn by identifying customers whose payment methods are expiring or have already expired — all from one convenient report.

Overview

The Expiring Payment Methods report gives you a clear, at-a-glance view of customers whose default payment method is approaching expiration or has already expired. By surfacing this information proactively, you can reach out to customers before a payment fails — helping you protect revenue and deliver a seamless subscription experience.

How to Access the Report

  1. Navigate to the Analytics section from your dashboard
  2. Locate and select the Expiring Payment Methods report

What You'll See in the Report

Each row in the report represents a customer with an expiring or expired payment method. The following details are provided for every entry:

  • Customer Name — The full name associated with the customer's account
  • Email Address — The customer's email on file, so you can reach out directly
  • Active Subscription Status — Confirms whether the customer currently has an active subscription
  • Last Successful Payment Date — Shows the most recent date a payment was successfully processed for the customer
  • Card Expiration (Month/Year) — Displays the expiration month and year of the customer's default payment method

Good to know: The report evaluates only the customer's active or default payment method — the one directly tied to their subscription. This ensures the information you see is always relevant and actionable.

Filtering by Date Range

To help you focus on the customers who need attention most, the report includes built-in date range filters. You can filter results by:

  • Last Month — View customers whose payment method expired in the previous month
  • Current Month — View customers whose payment method is expiring this month
  • Next Month — View customers whose payment method will expire next month

Simply select the desired filter to update the report results instantly.

Exporting the Report

Need to share the data with your team or use it in your own outreach tools? You can export the report with just one click:

  1. Apply your desired date range filter (optional)
  2. Click the Export to CSV button

A .csv file will be downloaded to your device, ready to open in Excel, Google Sheets, or import into your CRM or email platform

Best Practices

Getting the most out of this report is all about building a simple, consistent routine:

  • Check the report regularly — We recommend reviewing it at least once a week to stay on top of upcoming expirations
  • Start with "Next Month" — Filtering by next month gives you the most lead time to reach out before a payment method actually expires
  • Personalize your outreach — Use the customer name and email provided in the report to send a friendly, personalized reminder asking them to update their payment details
  • Export and collaborate — Download the CSV and share it with your billing or customer success team so everyone stays aligned
  • Follow up on "Last Month" — Don't overlook customers whose payment method has already expired — a quick follow-up can still recover the subscription before it's too late

Yes! Click the Export to CSV button to download the report data. You can then use it in any spreadsheet application or import it into your preferred outreach tool.

Q: How often is the report data updated?
The report reflects the most current payment method information available in the system each time you access it.
